“Learn to Fly” flygc.info – Review for American Flyers West Chicago, Illinois USA

flygc.info

Expensive flight school American Flyers is a pricy flight school to attend,

which doesn’t make sense because they don’t have any fancy aircraft or super pilot instructors. I guess they have to pay for all their advertising somehow.

Another thing I did not like is how they asked for money up front and how I seemed to almost always fly with a different instructor which is diffucult because you have to learn how to do something 5 different ways depending on who they put you with that day.

You can’t rent aircraft at this place either, so you have to go somewhere else and get checked out after you get your license. Also, if you want to do multi training you have to go to Texas or someplace else to get that done, which adds to the cost, and again can’t rent the twin.

No glass cockpit aircraft either which is the way of the future. Don’t let the shirt and ties fool you, the instructor don’t seem that happy and the atmosphere seemed very sterile like that of a morgue. Overall not impressed with this place at all!

Really great experience

i liked the individual approach and the attention my instructor and dispatch always gave me. I did my PPL, CPL and Multi-IFR, no complaints whatsoever!

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Crosswind Aviation WY USA

Ehh, it is ok Crosswind Aviation is ok, not great. There is really only one option for flight training in central Wyoming.

They are not afraid to tell you that. I had terrible experiences with Mike the owner. He had mislead me to thinking I needed to do my instrument checkride in a complex aircraft (which is not true) so I spent way more money than I should have.

Maintenance is always and issue. Weather is bad and costs are high. If you want to learn how to fly just for fun and you have plenty of time I think Crosswind is ok. If you want to do anything on a timeline or a budget you best go to California.

Congratulations to Sam Boyles for earning his Private Pilot Certificate !!!

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Lane Aviation Academy OR USA

The USSR of flight schools!

Due to internal conflict and money draining relations with Lane Community Collage, Lane Flight Tech had fallen into disrepair.

They are eager to tell you good things but here is the truth; The weather will hold you back, the planes are old and are broken all the time, scheduling is always an issue, there is one old man doing maintenance who works 4 days a week only.

This school needs serious life support or death. A good place to learn instruments but that is about it. The instructors who have been there a while are really good. If you do go to lane get and instructor who has been there 4+ years.

DO YOUR RESEARCH DO YOUR RESEARCH Seven accidents since 2008 including 2 fatalities.

I would do your research before attending this school. (One accident in TX.)They have been fined by the FAA for improper repairs, using unqualified personnel to preform maintenance on aircraft and falsifying maintenance documents.

($580,000) This information is public information. It is true and accurate. DO NOT DELETE THIS POST!

Dates of accidents: 7/29/03  5/5/04  7/ 5/04  6/16/08  8/11/2008 (Texas) 7/29/09  9/20/09 (2 Fatalities) 6/18/2010  9/29/2010  10/8/2010 http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/month.asp 8/11/2008 DEN08LA138 On August 11, 2008, approximately 1530 central daylight time, a Bell 206L-1 single-engine helicopter, N832AH, sustained substantial damage during a forced landing following a partial loss of engine power while maneuvering near Heber Springs, Arkansas. The airline transport pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Hillsboro Aviation Inc., Hillsboro, Oregon. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and a flight plan was not filed for the Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 133 external load flight. The flight departed a remote heli-spot location approximately 20 minutes prior the accident.

According to the operator, the helicopter had been conducting external load operations on the day of the accident and had just departed after refueling. While transporting an empty container on the long line at 300 feet above ground level, the engine “spooled down”. The pilot released the external load, executed a 180-degree turn and autorotation. During the forced landing, the helicopter landed hard in a tree farm and impacted trees, rolled over and came to rest on its right side. The pilot shut off the fuel and exited the helicopter. Examination of the helicopter revealed the tail boom was separated, the main rotor blades were bent, and the right side of the fuselage was damaged.

A Federal Aviation Administration inspector, who spoke with a company mechanic, reported that a PC line B-nut was found disconnected on the Rolls Royce 250-C30P engine. The mechanic reported that the last engine maintenance which involved the removal and reinstallation of the PC line was 67.1 hours prior, during a scheduled turbine change. No slippage marks (torque paint) were noted on the fitting.

According to the Rolls Royce 250-C30 Series Operation and Maintenance manual, section 72-00-00, “Proper tightening of engine tubing connections is critical to flight safety… Tubing B-nuts used in installations exposed to a high degree of vibration and pressure surges are subject to torque relaxation when improperly tightened…

Old slippage marks (torque paint) shall be completely removed, using torque paint remover, and reapplied each time the B-nut is tightened.”In 1990 (Revision 1, dated February 5, 2007), Rolls Royce issued an “Alert Commercial Service Letter: Maintenance Warning – External Lines”. The letter background states that Rolls Royce continues to be involved in investigations of aircraft accidents and incidents which are attributed to improper alignment, clamping, and torquing of engine tubing during installation.

The letter documents examples and causes of the failures of tube assemblies. 9/29/09

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Cloud Dancer Aviation Academy (CDA) FL USA

warning Hi people,

To all aspiring to be a pilot by joining CDA, I wouldn’t be surprised if you changed ur mind midway and chose another profession……

I have seen this happen to fellow students, who gave up in desperation fighting with management on trivial issues…

they are the most unprofessional and unethical people who run this flying school…. lucky 4 me as long as I was there, I learnt from and flew with very good instructors…. unfortunately none of them are there now with the school…. the present lot of instructors suck!!

David, the owner is a money minded businessman…. thus he runs the company with rickety aircraft as said by another gentleman in his review….. overall the college sucks n definitely not my recommendation to anyone!!!

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Cornerstone Aviation, UT USA

Most Professional School in Utah I have been flying in GA in Utah for many years.

I made the switch to Cornerstone for my aircraft rental and bfr needs about 5 years ago. My experiences have been very good. Most notably, Cornerstone has a fleet of newer planes that are very well maintained. Apparently, they outsource all maintenance to Million Air and the results speak for themselves. Safety is clearly a top priority.

Also, all the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I have personally had several instructors and they have all been professional.

In fact, my wife ended up receiving her Private with Cornerstone a had a great overall experience. Her CFI, “Trip,” was one of the best instructors I have seen. I highly recommend Cornerstone Aviation. While, they may not be the cheapest school in town, they are certainly the most professional. As usual, you get what you pay for.

CSA offers students the ability to complete any FAA knowledge Test onsite at the CSA Testing Centers in SLC and OGD. Tests must be pre-scheduled and pre-paid directly from CATS testing services.

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info – Review for FlightSafety Academy, FL USA

By Far the Worst Flight School  DO NOT GO TO Flight Safety Academy.

Very poor management and focus towards students. Extremely expensive and outdated.

They focus their attention on Chinese contract students.

Believe me when i say DO NOT GO THERE! It will take you 3 years  to get your rating. All you do is sit around and wait.

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Upper Limit Aviation (Helicopter) UT USA

VA Approved The School is 100% covered by the Post 9-11 GI Bill if you qualify. They have r-22′s, r-44′s, and Bell 206 all covered.

The instructors are great and you can get a degree in Helicopters while you are at it. Highly recommend it. Plus if you are military, there are lots of others going through it and everyone kind of leans on each other to get through.

“Learn to Fly” flygc.info Review for Premier Flight Academy Ohio, USA

Poor Quality I felt like this school was smoke and mirrors. I quite flying here because I got passed from one CFI to another and none of them had much experience.

They promoted themselves as multiple locations. Two locations when out of business. Not sure if this flight school will be around long.
